Luxury Travel Trends 2010

In preparation for next year’s business arena, many industry professionals have begun forecasting trends with regard to the luxury travel market. A recent survey of seasoned travelers, as well as discerning travel professionals listed that we can expect everything from niche luxury cruises to customized adventure travel to exotic, albeit remote destinations. Having studied these luxury travel trend predictions, relevant survey results and many travel professionals’ insights, this is the current outlook for 2010.

Mirroring the current economic atmosphere and more specifically the existing credit crunch, consumers are on the lookout for a bargain. It stands to reason then, that value for money will be at the top of the list for potential travelers, with concept and branding taking a backseat in the coming years. Both luxury hotel and tour operators have the ability to thrive if they can demonstrate the worth of paying a little extra in order to gain an outstanding experience.

Now more than ever perspective travelers are looking for an unsurpassed price/quality ratio when selecting their luxury vacation. Reflecting the highly competitive travel market, consumers will seek out top of the line locations, amenities and services at a price they feel offers them the best value for their dollar. Successful travel advisors will be proficient in providing the optimal available products for their clients at the right price.

Travel industry professionals have recently become aware of a growing market trend, in that luxury travelers are actively seeking out a customized, uniquely exotic travel experience. Simply put, travelers are looking for exciting new destinations, the ultimate in adventure and thrilling, new experiences. Luxury adventure travel is on the rise and consumers can enjoy a vast selection of luxury options. Some of these options include, but are not limited to luxury safaris, heli-ski trips, niche boat cruises, and even high-speed car tours in top vacation destinations like Cape Town, Provence, Tuscany and New York. Those looking for a slightly slower pace with a little relaxation thrown in may opt for personalized art tours and tailor-made culinary courses.

Green travel is not a newcomer to the luxury travel market, but with environmental issues at the forefront of many people’s minds, eco-travel is enjoying not only resurgence, but a definite growth spurt as well. It is predicted that 2010 will see the development of eco-friendly destinations; a direct result of a continued growth pattern of intimate, sustainable villa resorts. More than likely the upcoming year will bring a further increase in the number of operators offering greener travel options.

Certainly these trends will not necessarily occur verbatim or even overnight. Since change takes time, the process will be gradual, but the luxury travel industry is evolving and as a result, I do believe we will see some exciting options in the not so distant future.

Travel Discount Club: Discover How Much Money You Can Save Using a Travel Discount Club

The New Way To Travel

No question that in today’s economy, if you are a member of a travel discount club, you are not only a wise consumer, you are doing something about the overpriced travel that seems to have control over most people.

No matter what your financial picture looks like, everyone wants to save money. There are clubs wherein you can save up to 80% discounts off of the retail price which is what obviously attracts people to these travel memberships.

When you have unlimited access to luxury condos, villas and cottages at many of the most desirable resorts from all over the world, there is much to be said about the luxury of these clubs as well as the savings that you can have immediate access to.

If you compare the amount of money that you will spend if you are not a member of unlimited access to over 83,000 luxury hotel properties at below wholesale prices, the comparison is not even close. For example, at the time of this writing, I found a 2-bedroom condo, known as Bayview Club at El Presidente in Acapulco for a ridiculous price of just $100 for a weeks stay! Normally, this would cost you $998. So having a membership to a travel club certainly has its perks.

With a membership, you can also get take advantage of unlimited cruises at discount rates as well.

Once you become a member, you are immediately considered a member and will have private access to the vacation club. What you get are the best of the best vacation deals found anywhere (in our humble opinion) browsing at their leisure to find the best vacations available at the best prices.

In addition to the deals, there are clubs that also provide you the luxury of having access to travel advisors whose sole job is to help you with all of your travel desires and needs such as other travel related expenses.

Club memberships are the way to go these days if you are all about saving money. Sure, memberships are not free but when you add up all of the money that you could save on one vacation alone, it does not take a whole lot of convincing anyone because they just make sense…well, dollars, really!

There are various clubs in existence but be advised that you will pay much more for some memberships. Most people want the best when it comes to luxury and most people want the best for less which is why it is important to shop around if you want to pay as little as possible. The thing to remember is that you do not have to spend an arm and a leg to get the best of both worlds. As a bonus, some of these memberships will actually pay you a nice income for just referring others. (Although it is not required, many people jump on that opportunity.)

No matter if you are just a casual traveler or a business traveler, saving up to 80% on travel related expenses is the perfect solution to being able to save on travel. Saving several hundreds on resorts, cruises, fine hotels and many other vacation expenses, is the destination deal that many are taking immediate advantage of for the unlimited savings.

Travelling the Globe Is Easy If You Plan

When you are deciding your annual vacation or a quick getaway make sure you plan down to the very details. One hitch in your plan means hours of waiting, making sudden travel changes and reworking your entire schedule and travel arrangements. Many times when you do not plan, your trip becomes boring, longer than expected and lacks fun. Make sure you opt for a good travel advisor or agent who can give you all the details of the city you choose, special places of importance and recommended places to visit. Also get a list of must see monuments, shops and streets. If you are still not sure on where to go, ask them for the world’s best tourist places. Some sought after places are India, Sweden, France, Australia and Morocco. You can plan multiple trips as well. Take a trip to sea beaches and spend time waking up to the sunrise or travel to the mountains and river beds.

Planning your trip

Always seek the help of a trip advisor. You will find plenty of willing online agents who can help you plan your trip to any destination in the world. Try and seek someone who has previous experience and good reviews. A world travel guide will be able to mark the places you can visit and draw up a custom itinerary for you. This way you do not have to do anything you are not interested in. Make sure you disclose the purpose of your visit. A get-away means staying in hotels and other types of accommodation. Ensure you have confirmed travel and hotel bookings before you leave the country. If you are looking for a multiple country trip, ask your world travel guide for possible locations you can spend time at. If you like busy, try places like china, India and Thailand. These exotic places are exhilarating.

Activities

Going to a new country means trying out new places to eat, shop and visit. Besides getting a list of places, allow your guide to give you some tips on travel, handling your luggage and special places to see. When shopping, look for roadside bazaars and local markets to get the best deals. Many of the world’s best tourist places have incredible shopping destinations and have a variety of specialties only available in that city. The Arab countries are famous for their Persian rugs, India for handicrafts while Italy has plenty of luxury goods, shoes and crafts.

Booking

Instead of running back and forth to a travel agent, check out online world travel guides to help you with your bookings. All you need to do is provide your destination, dates of travel, number of people in the party and your entire budget. This will help your travel guide provide the perfect vacation for you at your budget. Once they provide you with your options, you can take the best possible pick. When booking, if you wish, you can make it a theme holiday like romantic or beach inspired.

These memberships do not require you to pay any additional fees, at least the ones that I have checked out. No maintenance fees or annual fees is a huge plus to many, who have been burned by timeshares. That is something that no timeshare can even come close to when comparing the two. If you compare the amount of money that you would have to pay on a retail vacation, a membership blows the retail price right out of the water. You will easily save over 50% or more.

Do your own research and see for yourself. Having a membership to for access to thousands of luxury hotel locations at rock-bottom wholesale prices is what makes this an easy decision for many. When you compare the savings to the retail price that you would have to pay, it just makes good sense..

Take for example the fact that you can get:

a 2-bedroom condo at multiple worldwide locations for less than $200 for a seven-day vacation stay. The only question is why would would you want to spend several hundred more than what you need to? The retail price for this vacation retailed for $998 on a site that offered the exact same amenities.

When I first learned of these savings, I jumped on the opportunity because I hate having to spend more money than I really have to. When you join, you will gain immediate private access and be a part of the vacation club that allows you to profit from these vacation deals. When I first took a look at it, I could not believe the savings. In fact, I thought there had to be a catch….I was pleasantly surprised when I realized there was no catch on having access to unbelievable discounts on these luxurious vacations. It was a dream come true for me.

Another big advantage is that you will also have access to travel advisors. These are advisors who will assist you with various travel needs on other travel related expenses. When you are getting ready to go on a trip, the less that you have to worry about is priceless.

These memberships are the answer to saving money when it comes to traveling throughout the entire United States, but all across the globe. While memberships are not free, you could easily make your money back on one vacation alone. So basically, you get your money back after your first vacation. Keep in mind that there are pretty high priced memberships compared to other clubs.

If you want to save some serious cash, consider a membership because it will certainly save you more than just a few bucks when you consider the fact that you can save several hundreds of dollars on your first trip. I cannot say enough about these memberships. They really are the way to travel when it comes to saving money at worldwide luxurious hotels, resorts and cruises.

No matter if you are casual traveler or a business traveler, saving up to 80% on travel related expenses is the perfect solution for literally anyone who travels I do not know about you but most everyone I talk to travels at least once in a while. Google’s Online Travel Dominance Grows With the Purchase of ITA Software

Search engine giant Google whose innovative approach to Internet searching transformed the online travel industry some ten years ago has decided to enter the lucrative travel market directly with the acquisition of ITA Software who provides flight information.

It is Google’s intention to allow users to search directly for flight destinations since the ITA software can provide fares, flight and journey times. It has been reported that Google paid $700m in cash for the US based ITA Software Company which was founded back in 1996.

Google chief executive Eric Schmidt said “What we’re going to do is build new flight search tools that focus on end users.” He then when on to stress that that Google will not be selling airline tickets to clients. This may well prove to be an interesting time for the online travel industry and Google since ITA current clients include Microsoft’s comparisons website Bing Travel, Expedia and Travelport.

There is concern among regulators that Google may well have a considerable influence on flight data and would the acquisition be good for the consumer. Google have made it clear that it is their intention to work in the best interest of the consumer offering a progressive opening up of the travel marketplace. Currently, within the aviation industry there are systems in place to allow fight booking for different destinations e.g. London to Dallas via Philadelphia and a fee is paid for each segment of the journey. The fear is that Google could challenge that process making the future very interesting.

Google’s Impact on the Travel Industry

When a pair of students created and initially ran Google from their dorm room while studying at Stanford University, California little do they know the vast impact the search engine would have on the development of the Internet, and in particular in the fundamental change it would cause in the travel industry over the last 10 years.

Google went a step further than other search engines and company directories back in 2000. They introduced a keyword advertising programme. By the beginning of 2001 Google were processing 100 million search queries a day and this provided a huge new avenue for companies to advertise their goods and services. Therefore, travel companies used this new popular competitive channel to reach the top of the organic listings and dominate the sponsored pay-per-click links. This has lead to some really exciting travel opportunities. In fact, this new online advertising initiative has created companies specifically to help businesses succeed at this new venture.

The huge renaissance in online advertising has been attributed to Google’s advertising model that helped pave the way for the demise of the thick, colour printed travel brochure and provided a platform that helps everyone find anything almost anywhere.

As Google moves forward they have step up their Internet travel presence with the introduction of MyTravelGoogle.com, a new way to search online for travel related articles. The site is promoted to targeted budget travellers and their ne

What to Look For When Booking Travel Online

When using a website to book a holiday or vacation, you should consider online travel research to price the individual components, e.g. flights, car rental, hotel etc separately to make sure you are getting a good deal. Prices can vary significantly, so comparison shopping on several sites could be a distinct advantage.

If you favor a particular hotel or airline, you may be better off going directly to the hotel and/or airline of your choice to get the best deal. Also, some travel websites are unclear about their cancellations and refunds policy; therefore if you book directly with a hotel or car rental company online, you could cancel a reservation without penalty up to 24 hours in advance.

So, when it comes to searching online consider using a travel site as opposed to a search engine like Google. Google may find the best fares but a travel website offers better searching flexibility for holidays and vacation packages and in some cases they also negotiate their own deals with real travel opportunities and packaged offers.

Generally, many service providers including travel companies are guaranteeing ‘lowest prices online’ so it is a good idea to check and compare travel websites pricing with the hotel or airline website. In addition you may found incentives to book directly with a hotel or airline, e.g. air miles or popular retail vouchers.

Also, consider reading the clauses about cancellation when booking. These will vary from site to site. Rates will vary and may come with penalties and deadlines and some cases non refundable deposits. In addition to cancellation fees be aware of potential booking fees. Travel website may charge you a booking fee, where booking directly with an hotel or airline usually does not incur a fee. But be careful here, as some sites may charge you if you use a credit card.

Finally, it is worth checking individual country sites of particular internationally based online companies to compare local prices to the company’s global website. This may prove beneficial depend on your International travel plans.

What Happened to Airline Travel?

It’s not like it used to be. I am sure that you have heard that about airlines. The pressures of operating a successful and sustainable airline business continue to increase. Here we explore some of the changes and what might be done about it.

Increased Security, rising costs (fuel, staff and other resources), changing loyalty programs – where will it end. Seems like as airplanes are replaced the new ones seem to have less room for the travellers and their luggage. So, the weight limits continue to reduce for both cabin and check-in luggage. The meals are not as good and often we have to pay extra for them, if at all they are available.

Here are a few tips that might help.

Firstly, plan your itinerary including your time at the airport. Give yourself plenty of time by arriving early. Always have your travel documentation ready for presentation at both check-in and security. (This includes your boarding pass, if they allow you to print it)If you have a choice, travel at non-peak times to miss the bulk of the business travellers. Take the opportunity to check-in online (usually up to 48 hours prior to boarding) and you may have a shorter queue at baggage check-in. Choose your own seat. Choosing an aisle seat will also give you a little flexibly during the flight for stretching your legs.

Secondly, choose your flights carefully, and let it be known that you are flexible, particularly if you are considering and upgrade. You can also save money by taking alternate routes – they may take a little longer but you may get better value. Taking this direction means that you are shaping your travel around the airline’s programs.

Thirdly, when traveling on budget airlines, take a snack and purchase a drink at the airport. You will know what you are eating and it will be good! Make sure that your cabin bag (and your check-in bag) comply with the airlines requirements. However, do take the items that make ‘congested flying’ a little more comfortable, like noise-cancelling earphones, eye mask and small pillow.

It is unlikely that the airline will ask you how they can serve you better. During these changing times. It is far better for you to understand that system and take advantage of any gaps. Nevertheless, thorough planning is a great start and a discussion with your travel advisor may also provide a few extra hints. Happy traveling on the new improved airplanes.
